    3. Hi everyone, Watched with interest as Lyndall's postings on OPR's came through in the early hours of the morning (Sydney time) and reminded me that I have a complete page (photocopy) of baptims from the Newhill Free Church from January, 1847 through September, 1847. There are 28 children baptised. My interest was in Grace Poole FINCHER and she is on this list, but does not appear on the I.G.I., so if anyone has a baptism they cannot find circa 1847, e-mail and I will check my list. It gives Fathers full name, Mothers full name, Father's occupation, Date of Birth, place of Birth (Parish and town or street), date of Baptism and the Ministers name. I cannot find the Baptism of Robert Forbes FINCHER (circa 1841) and I fear he may have been a Free Church Baptism as well. If anyone is knowledgeable on the topic would love a summary of the Free Church, especially when it split from the Presbyterian (Established) Church of Scotland and where records can be found. Also the type of people (i.e. upper or working classes) most likely to join the Free Church. Would they be considered Non-Conformists in Scotland? Apologies if the questions sound stupid. But I know very little on this topic. My ancestors switched back and forth between the Free Church and the Presbyterian Church in the 1840's. Regards, Rhonda Thompson, Sydney, Australia
