I am trying to trace a Robert Walter Chapman born around mid 1850s who was probably a grandson of Charles Chapman and Mary Wood of Stonehaven, but if not a grandson certainly was related closely. (He called their son George "uncle" and George's daughters called him "cousin" in correspondence.) His marriage and death certificates contain no date or place of birth, or parent's names. There are several Roberts of the right age in the extended family, but we have eliminated the son of Stewart Chapman and Ann Crocket. Another possibility is the son of David Chapman and Ann Singers. Can any-one help with knowledge of this family? Is there another Robert more closely related to Charles & Mary? One who left Scotland in the 1870s ? I would really appreciate any help on this one.
