I hope that someone might help me to understand the following two OPRs for the same couple. I do understand that that banns were called before actual weddings took place, but these entries specifically state a date of marriage...and the dates differ! Were they married on 28 December 1776? Or were they married on 4 January 1777? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Parish Church of Fordoun 1776 December 7th Charles WILSON in this parish & Christian EDDIE in parish of Bervie were contracted in order to marriage, & after being proclaimed in the Church, they were married the 28th of December thereafter. Parish Church of Bervie 1777 Charles WILSON workman in the Parish of Fordoun and Christian EDDIE in this Parish formerly contracted and lawfully proclaimed were married upon Saturday January the fourth day.
