    2. Hi Colin, All I can say is the family originated in Brechin (and quite a few Milnes are in this area as I am Finding same names born on the same dates from different parents) My family were farm labourers and moved house with there job at the time.Generally farm workers were employed for a year or so and they moved to a house supplied on the farm as part of their wage. They lost thier accomodation when their work ran out.So you find that they moved to different counties as there are only a few miles between them .So my family moved to Montrose ,Farnell, Dun ,Kirkden,Arbroath then Dundee. When the family moved to Arbroath ,Dundee etc it was generally for more long term work eg.railways and/or Mills.Especially ,say 1830 onwards. I can't help more than that unless you are looking for a specific Milne Keep hunting Alf Milne -----Original Message----- From: colin mills <cmills@mail.ocis.net> To: SCT-KINCARDINE-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Sun, 5 Mar 2006 07:25:44 -0800 Subject: Re: [SCT-KINCARDINE] Milne/Deis Forbes Hi Alf, Though my paternal ancestors came from the Borders region, I have found reference to MILNE, MILL, and MILLS , in that area but surprised to see you are finding the same up around Kincardine. Have you any history of connection of the names ? I have been monitoring Kincardine for a long time watching for my maternal side (WEBSTER) but so far not much luck.
