Hi Colin and Helen, I haven't come across Janet Jolly (c1782) who was the daughter of Alexander Jolly and Ann Christison, who married John Low. However, we have a recent ancestor who was called Alexander and we wondered if he was named after an earlier relative, such as an uncle. I will make a note of these names and as I continue my Scottish research, I'll let you know if I find any connection. As to the two Jolly's ( Florence and Maggie) in the little date book in the late 1800's or early 1900's: they are in the right area, but my great great grandfather had left Scotland by then. They may be related by his uncles or aunts, however. At present I don't believe he had any siblings. Again, I will keep the details on file and let you know if I make any connections.
