    3. Hello Emma I have a book of MI inscriptions "Kincardineshire The Means" pre 1855 Monumental Inscriptions, I purchased from the Edinburgh Geni Society. It includes Fordoun and has an interesting introduction to the kirkyard listing. "The centre of the large parish of farms, muir and forest is at the village of Auchenblae where the present street plan was laid out after 1795. On high ground above the village is the site of one of the earliest Christian foundations in Scotland. St Palladius is reputed to have come here in the 5th century & the medieval chapel was dedicated to him. The shell of this building remains at the side of the buriel ground, is called St palladius aisle or Paldy kirk. It was rebuilt in 1788 but was demolished in 1828, remaining as the buriel place of the families of (Falconer of ) Glenfarguhar and (Irvine and Burnett of) Monboddo. The much larger new church built in 1828-9 stands a few yards to the north, surrounded by the well-kept burial ground." National Grid referance: NO 726 784 I had a quick and your rellies do have a readable headstone, the following is the MI recorded :- "Jas Jolly fauar hers 14. 7. 1866 55, w Charlotte Mitchell 31. 3. 1875 58, sis Agnes Jolly or Fiddes 15.6. 1902 79 " So I would contact Colin Milne as its possible that he has a photo of the headstone that he can send to you. I have a James JOLLY c 28 Dec 1797 Fordoun son of John JOLLY and Jean BYARS who married Anne DUNBAR on 20 July 1823 in my tree, so we may be distantly connected.
