    3. Hullo Bernadine, My most sincere apologies for not getting back to you earlier but I have been away. The names that you have mentioned do not ring a bell as at this point in time, but I will keep it all in mind. Regards, Colin. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bernadine Nisbet" <bernie@thenisbets.wanadoo.co.uk> To: <SCT-KINCARDINE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, August 01, 2005 8:56 PM Subject: Re: [SCT-KINCARDINE] Fw: Crow, Valentine. > There are a lot of people in St Abbs berwickshire with the surname Crowe > .St > Abbs is a fishing Com and years ago some of the men fished at Gourdon and > Johnshaven. 3. Hello Colin, I don't know if we have had contact before or not. I have a James Crow who married Jean Valentine 1822 Fordoun, also James Valentine who married Jean Crow 1827 Fordoun. I also have a New Zealand connection-Alexander Crow married 1 Jean Kid (Kydd) 2 Ann Cochrane. I got the information on this connection a few years back from a new cousin contact. If you think there may be a connection please do get in touch, I have quite a lot more info. 3. G'day Colin, I too am interested in the Valentine name around Laurencekirk and Marykirk. My start point has been James Valentine and Ann Craig married in 1769. They had at least one son, James Valentine, (sometimes it seems spelt according to Scottish custom with a double 'll' ie Vallentine, to distinguish the son from Father-I am advised). I would appreciate any info on 'the line' before 1769 if that is possible. I will provide descendent info as I have thus far in about 3 weeks. The Australian connection from this line as I have it is William Hunter Valentine, born in Marykirk 1846 who came to Melbourne on the steamship 'Pathan' in 1884. He was a steam tractor driver known as 'Wully' in the Mildura area where he worked for McLaren Bros, contracted by Chaffey Bros. to clear land for development. The Maternal line on my 'line' from Ann Craig on were: Margaret Tevendale; Isobel Hunter; Ann Calder; Ruth Hilda Jellet. There is also a Bruce Valentine in NZ I believe that I have been meaning to get in touch with.
