Hi Bob,(Shand), Thank you so very much for the info on 'where is Cotbank/Coatbank, in Kincardinshire. Also for the web sit for the map. I have the marriage certificate for John Ker/Kerr and Barbara Edward, in Glenbervie, and he is stated as being from Cotbank. The marriage took place in 1794. in Glenbervie. Is it possible that Cotbank was the name of a farm there????. You mention that Cotbank was in Banchory Devenick, but were the boundaries changed since 1794??? John Ker also had some brothers and one of them was William Ker, who lived at Laddlestone, and they (John and William) were also the witnesses for the baptism of some of the children born to both of them. . All the baptisms took place in Glenbervie. When I looked at the map, I couldn't see any name of Laddlestone or Cowden, which was also another name that was mentioned in some of the papers that I have. I do appreciate your help, and will go on from here and order another map of the district, and it might help me more. Thanking you, Margaret Porter mporter@tcsn.net ----- Original Message ----- From: "bob shand" <bobshand@beeb.net> To: <SCT-KINCARDINE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, July 23, 2005 3:40 AM Subject: Re: [SCT-KINCARDINE] Re. Margaret, I don't pretend to know much about Scot locations but I do have a map of Stonehaven and Banchory a friend brought me from Scotland last year and did find 'Cotbank of Barras' east and slightly south of Glenbervie on # 113. I 'think' it is the name of a farm and is surrounded by Little Barras, Mitton of Barras, Chapel of Barras, Little Barras, Leys Hill, etc. - almost due west of Catterline. This is an Ordnance Survey map 45 by Landranger Map. Can I try to scan you part of it?
