    3. Ken I am looking into the mariage of Mary Ann Duncan d/o Christina Bell and John Duncan(?) from Hollybank Banchory Ternan married 1878.12.13 to Isaac Wright. They seem to have had a daughter Margarate Milne Wright born 1891 Banchory Ternan. Can you explain the Milne midname.( could the name Margarate come from Margaret Hutcheson d/o Margarate Cameron?) I may have several questions if you could please e-mail me at the following address: louise.lariviere@sympatico.ca Looking forward to share information with you. 3. Hi there, Is there anyone on the list with Maver (originally Mavor) connections from Banchory? I have one link - an Alexander Mavor born in Banchory Devenick however the date recorded on our family bible is 14/04/1965. I have found listed an Alexander Mavor born there on 16/04/1865 but have no way of verifying if this is the same person (very close DOB though - any ideas on whether this is likely to be the same person?). Cheers Lisa

    3. Kathy, On IGI there was a James MILNE Robb born 28 June 1864 - not 1865 in Arbuthnott, Kcd. Could this be your James? If so, his parents were David Robb and Ann Ross. If you do a little more reseach then perhaps you will know where to go and by all means, check out the cemeteries for their wealth of information - often not found otherwise. 3. Hi Jim, Yes, that Edward is my great-great grandfather Edwin. For some reason the 1841 census doesn't have James Duncan in the same household but he was with Elizabeth, Edward/Edwin and a group of her children from her marriage to James Mather (although not Helen). But I've seen the census document and know that they were all in the same household. Yes, James Mather and Elizabeth Torrie married in St Cyrus before making the short journey to Johnshaven to live/work there. As for James Mather being deceased by 1841, I have no way of knowing. He wasn't listed as deceased on his son John's marriage cert. in the 1860's but none of the certificates are totally reliable. I have no plans at the moment to head north to Johnshaven (I'm in Arbroath) but have a great trip! Are you aware of the 1841 census which shows Elizabeth Mather in Johnshaven with a son Edward Duncan aged 1? I have recently discovered (through a helpful approach suggested by Gordon McLeod) the five children born to Elizabeth Torrie and James Mather according to the IGI. Interesting to see that after the first child was born in St Cyrus in 1824, the family had moved to Johnshaven by 1827. Also interesting to realise that James Mather was aged 50 to 63 when the children were born. And he was not on the 1841 census, presumably deceased. We are planning to visit Johnshaven in September. Will we see you there? Cheers Jim Murray ============================== Search Family and Local Histories for stories about your family and the areas they lived.
