    3. My Gt.x 3 Grandfather was David Christie, born around 1808 in Scotland. He married Betty Sherat in Fordoun in 1830 and was listed in the register as being of Fettercairn at that time. In the 1841 census his occupation was labourer and spirit dealer, ( i know there was a distillery at Fettercairn in the 1860's but am not sure about before that), anyway my problem is that i have so far been unable to identify David's birth and therefore do not know who his parents may have been. His eldest son was named William and his eldest daughter was Anne. As his wife's parents were John And Beattie, I wondered if william and Anne may give a clue as to his parents? Help!!, any info./suggestions would be greatly appreciated, Carl Christie

    2. Ruth Edwards
    3. Hello Moray, I have Tavendale's in Laurencekirk. My G.G.Grandmother was Mary Boyack/Boick/Boyeck, daughter of William Boyack and Elizabeth Tavendale. Mary was born 24 Nov 1815, in Laurencekirk she also had brothers David Boyeck 2 Dec 1817 and Alexander 6 Dec 1819, after that no sign of any more children, although William Boyack was still alive at the 1851 census and gave his birth place as Fettercairn, I think Elizabeth must have died early. I have Elizabeth's parents as Alexander Tavendale and Margaret Watson, but I have not been able to prove it so far. I do have a bit on the Tavendale's though. Ruth Edwards

In Digest 189 Jeannette wrote << #1 Davidson - Scott in Kinneff Date: Wed, 15 Nov 2000 15:51:02 -0500 From: "Jeannette Phethean" [email protected] John DAVIDSON 1797-1871 Kinneff, married Mary SCOTT,Glenbervie? In Glenbervie in 1825. They had 7 children: Ann 1828 married (1) John WORDIE and (2) Robert ROBERTS William 1831 married Jane Maria WARNER Margaret 1833 married James EDWARD Charlotte 1836 married Unknown SAWDEN Andrew 1839 married Sophia Unknown Helen 1846 Isabella 1850 married James BIDDIE Can anyone tell me who Mary SCOTT's parents were and when she was born? Family story is that she had at least 3 brothers, John, Thomas and Robert, but no Scott family in the OPR's in Kincardine seems to have had children by those names. At least one of the DAVIDSON children is said to have gone to Australia, but I know that William and Ann went to the States, Andrew was in Surrey in 1881 (census), Charlotte lived in and died in Bridlington, England, Margaret was in Montrose, Forfar, and Isabella was in Kintore, Aberdeen in 1881. I have a lot of information on the two who went to the States, but would like to learn more about the others. Any help will be appreciated. Jeannette >> Jeannette Whilst I am currently still grasping at straws, I have found my (confirmed) ggg grandmother was Frances Scott born in Kinneff somewhere between 1833 and 1837 - depends on the information source used IGI & Origins suggest 1837 but she was supposed to be 82 when she died in 1916. She married David Thomson in St Cyrus, KCD on 2 Oct 1858. She was the daughter of Alexander Scott and Ann Balfour (taken from death certificate) who married in Glenbervie on 4 Feb 1815. Other children were Alexander (1821), Walter (*2?, 1829 & 1833), William (1831) & Thomas (1835) The only birth I can find for Alexander senior I can find suggests a birth about 1796 with a father of John Scott. Unfortunately, the trail has currently gone cold at this point but does it look like a possible branch of your tree?
