There was an Elizabeth Milne born to Robert Milne and Elizabeth Burges 21 Nov 1811 in Fetteresso but I am not sure if this was the right person Terry Logan

Hi Tina, I have not done too much on my MILNE line, however, my GG Grandmother Margaret MILNE married Alexander AIRTH. One of their children was Janet/Jessie AIRTH in 1851 at Dunnottar and I believe that this was her second marriage. She died in Stonehaven in 1902. Our towns are Laurencekirk, Fordoun, Dunnottar, Kineff, Stonehaven in Kincardineshire and Birse in Aberdeenshire. I noticed that Malcolm Stephen and Raul Carvajal Moreno on the Kincardine Rootsweb mailing list provided some details on Kincardineshire MILNE's. The Aberdeenshire mailing list has a number of communications on MILNE's. Lance M. I found this to be a very interesting web site. It is put out by the University of Edinburgh. Both the data and history are excellent for researchers. http://edina.ac.uk/cgi/StatAcc/StatAcc.cgi David Burnett
Hi, Is there anyone out there researching MILNE from the following parts of Kincardine? Benholm, Laurencekerk, Fordoun, Glenburvie, Fetteresso, Garvock & Kinneff. Regards Tina Claydon
Hi everyone, I'm new to the list, and have joined in the hope that someone might know something about one of the families I'm researching. I have KINLOCH family appearing in Aberdeen, Glasgow and Dundee, and now I think they may be in Kincardine. I'm in the process of trying to establish if an Alexander John KINLOCH b1818 in St Nicholas, Aberdeen, d1879 in Drumoak, Aberdeen is one of my relatives. Alexander married Margaret Morison HUTCHEON b1823 in Fetteresso, Kincardine in Drumoak, Aberdeen 1841. He was a MD and graduated from Edinburgh University. He was said to be a landed proprietor and a farmer of 120 acres, in the 1851 census of Aberdeen. Following Alexander's death, Margaret and her family were found in the 1881 census at The House of Altries in Maryculter, Kincardine. She was described as a "Landed Proprietors Widow Annuitant". I have a few more details about her children and the many servants they had, if I can share them with anyone else, I'd be happy too. I'd love to know if anyone has come across this family, or has any information regarding the House of Altries. I'm relatively new to genealogy in this area and also as a whole, so would love to hear from any of you! Thanks for taking the time to read this, Joanne Researching: MILNE, KINLOCH, SMITH, ANGUS-Aberdeen KINLOCH,WATSON,SMITH-Glasgow KINLOCH-Dundee & Kincardine?

Hi All, I have traced my family back to the Laurencekirk and Brechin areas. As i go further back in the family the name changes from Lowe to low. It seems to have changed when a certificate was signed with an E at the end( by mistake i don't know) The names I have are Gordon Barclay Lowe b1884 married Ann Cairns in 1921 in Glasgow, Gordon had brothers/sisters Mary, ramsay, george.(all born in Brechin) But I don't know anything about them John Low b1861 married Mary isabella whyte barclay in brechin 1885 (the above are their children) I am stuck on finding the above John Low's father. I know John low was born in Laurencekirk under the name John Laurie with the father named as John Low,but it states "disputed father" on the certificate". His mothers name Was Georgina Laurie/Lawrie but unfortunately they did not marry so you can see how my problem arises (no info except the fathers name) The son John got married as John Low so i also don't understand why he changed his name from Laurie to low as on the birth certificate. I know that John Low's mother Georgina had several other children Two of which were witnesses on John /Mary's marriage certificate. She also stayed next door to John/Mary in Brechin so I know they stayed in touch. I don't pick up traces of the father anywhere. Georgina also got Married to a william Stewart but she didn't change her maiden name on the census. I hope there is some relation out there and it would be good to hear from you Brian Lowe [email protected]

Greetings to all subscribers. I wonder if aomeone out there could steer me in a direction I have noit yet gone? I am still seeking the burial place of my great uncle Andrew Low (Senior), He died in 1849 in Liverpool where he had both his home and office. His parents and some siblings are biried in the old Caterline & Kineff kirkyard - he was born in Dunottar, Kincardine. One brother, spouse and their siblings are buried in the Brechin Cathedral kirkyard. I have his death certificate and his will but neither shed any light on the place of his burial. I am looking still because the inscription might be the final piece of proof I need to verify his parentage and another brick in the wall I am still building to verify my great grandfather Andrew Low's parents. I understand what you are saying, and you are right if the subscribers to this website were only researching in Kincardine. However, I'd suspect many subscribers to this website are also researching in other locations at the same time. Just as I am interested in the information that comes across this website on Kincardine and its history, I'm just as interested in the bits that reveal how research goes on where these subscribers are from. My intent was not to offend or take up valued webspace or other subscriber's time with frivilous stories. I honestly thought this story would give some humorous and possible insight into US census taking for those researching this side of the Atlantic. Let mine be the last word on this issue. I have no desire to start something that would develop into a long discussion thread. Thanks for your thoughts on this.
