    3. Hi listers, I am new to this list and I am researching the TOWNS family. My 2xgreat grandfather was William Towns from Marykirk. I believe he was born in 1837 and married Mary BLACKIE(BLACKE) who was born in Laurencekirk. Other than that I know nothing about either of them, if anyone has any information on them or any other members of the family I would very much appreciate it. The last surviving member of our branch of the Towns family turns 98 in September this year and I would love to be able to give her some information about her family before their arrival in Australia. Thanks Jenni Melbourne, Oz

    3. Dear Al I do not know where you live, from 1855 to 1875 every birth and marriage for Scotland has been extracted from the civil registration, and appear on the IGI, so you can send to SLC for a copy of the certificate or go to your nearest LDS FHC and order in the microfilm and copy it yourself. The staff at the FHC can help you. 3. Can anyone tell me where the birth records for 1852/1853 might be and if there may be a source of information for marriages and births born "at sea" for Scotland residence who worked in West Indies. My Great-grandfather William Anderson MLLAR may have been born during a to or from voyage his parents, Scottish surgeon, William MILLAR and his wife Mary L. (STRUTHERS) Millar might have made coming or going between these two countries. My Grand-father William Anderson MILLAR married Fanny Venables LEA in Monikie, Newbrigging Parrish in 1888 and he died at sea in 1897 aboard the S.S. A.J. Balfour in an accident.. This marriage and birth information may help me trace William and Mary Millar's roots. Thank You, Linda M. Thank [email protected]

    3. Hi Anne, I was at the University of British Columbia and photocopied the Mutch genealogy published in 1927. It said that all Mutches originated in the Aberdeenshire-Kincardineshire area and tried to note most of them. I sent it to the Aberdeen & North East Scotland FHS a few years ago. Unfortunately I did not keep a copy. I did notice an obituary of a J. Robert Mutch who died in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada, on 19 Nov. 1985. Part of the obituary said, "Author of the recently printed Genealogy of the Mutch Family, a continuation of the Genealogy printed in 1927." I don't know if this helps but you could try the Prince Edward Island provincial archives; National Archives of Canada or the Aberdeen & North East Scotland FHS. I'm sorry but I do not have these email addresses at hand. Lance M.
