    1. Thomson/Nicol
    2. This is the first time on this mail site. Would like to see if anyone would have a connection with the follow: My gg-grandparents were: Ann Nicol b. 27 June 1819 in Peterhead. Who married George Cheyne on 31 Dec 1842. George b. 31 Mar 1812 in Peterhead. Ann Nicol had a brother Thomas b. 8 Aug 1825. Ann's father was Thomas b. 1791 d. before 1851. He was married to a Margaret - last name unknown. Thomas and Margaret were in the 1841 census, but showed Margaret as a widow in 1851. And yes, I know that Peterhead is not in Kincardine. But there was a family connection to the Thomson's. My gggrandmother Barbara (Gray) Thomson was b. 27 Jul 1817 in Cruden but she died and was buried in Banchroy Ternon Kincardine. She d. 29 Jan 1875. Now I believe the Thomson family was one of the land owners in Banchory as well as some Nicol's. I would really like to know more and to find just where my gggrandmother is buried. Is there anyone else that might be searching for some of the same info? Is there anyone on this mail list that might live in this area and could find out for me. I would be more than happy to pay for any time spent. Thank you for reading this and your kind consideration. DeLories Marysville Washington USA

    1. Nicol Family
    2. Hello I am writing because I know that somewhere along the line, there is a connection between the Don and Nicol families. I just don't know what it is and am hoping that you might be able to help me find it. My relatives came from the Benchory-Devenick, Logie-Pert, St Cyrus and Msrykirk areas. My grgrandfather DAVID DON married JANE GORDON Dec 10, 1869 in Marykirk. His sister ANNA BELLA NICOL DON (born abt 1876 in Logie-Pert) was named after someone in the Nicol family, but I don't know who, or what the connection was. Can you fill in those blanks for me? I also know that a GEORGE NICOL married an ISABELLA DON in 1861 in St. Cyrus, but I do not know if she was one of my Don family. I will be very grateful for any help you can give me. Not only am I very new to genealogy, I am at a standstill on this side of my family. Cordially, Ann Belau

    3. Hi, My Ancestor worked and lived in Maryculter and appeared to be employed at Mansion House Of Kingcausie, Maryculter, Kincardine, Scotland. I would love to hear a little about the place either from the years around 1881 or even about it today. I understand there was also a school there in 1881 and wonder if any records of students might be available. Regards, Jenny

Is there some kind soul who could help with a lookup? I am looking for the names of the parents of a David SCOTT who married a Ann HARDY c.1862 (possibly in arbuthnott). David lists his birthplace on the 1881 census as Fetteresso c.1838. They had two children in Laurencekirk that I know of and then they moved to Montrose and then eventually Glasgow. One of there daughters was named Helen Brand SCOTT. I find this interesting because my GGGGrandfather was George SCOTT. His parents were James SCOTT and Helen Brand (St Cyrus). I wonder if this David descends from this family.??? Hoping someone can help. Regards Cris --------------62D143BE9B786C1CB77F9200--

    2. mscaleb
    3. This is to request help from my fellow Scottish listers. In the early 1980's, I purchased a small Bible, a polyglot verson, in an Edinburgh second hand store. Inside on the front fly pages were an already unintelligible phrase on the first page, "Helen London, with Jnos. Wedderspoons best wishes Glasgow, November 11, 1864" on the second page, and the song "Holy Bible, Book Divine" on the last page before the title page. There is no other information written in the Bible to indicate who these people were. I would like to return this Bible to its Scottish roots and to the correct family, but I've searched all over the internet but can't find any information on these people. I'd like some assistance with the mailing costs, but otherwise I expect no renumeration. Any suggestions as to the best way to proceed would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help. 1. Chapman families of Kincardine

    3. I am trying to trace a Robert Walter Chapman born around mid 1850s who was probably a grandson of Charles Chapman and Mary Wood of Stonehaven, but if not a grandson certainly was related closely. (He called their son George "uncle" and George's daughters called him "cousin" in correspondence.) His marriage and death certificates contain no date or place of birth, or parent's names. There are several Roberts of the right age in the extended family, but we have eliminated the son of Stewart Chapman and Ann Crocket. Another possibility is the son of David Chapman and Ann Singers. Can any-one help with knowledge of this family? Is there another Robert more closely related to Charles & Mary? One who left Scotland in the 1870s ? I would really appreciate any help on this one. 3. Hi Bruce and the list, I have Agnes WYLLIE married James VALENTINE 26 Jan 1828 at West Cairnby, Fordoun Parish. (both parishioners) Agnes and James appear on the 1841 census at Luthermuir, (Marykirk Parish.) Agnes is also on 1851 and 1861 as a widow and pauper. Her birth place is given as Dublin, Ireland and her date of birth if the census is correct would have been 1802. I have not checked the 1871 census. At her son, William's wedding in 1857 James WYLLIE Jn is a witness. Does anyone have these Wyllies in their tree? Is there a James Wyllie senior? Does anyone have any Irish born Wyllies who may be related?
