Hello everyone :) The information below is from the 1881 census. On the LDS site John Mcabe born 12 Jan 1850 to "Isobella" Dallas & Peter McKelbie. In the 1851, 1861, and 1871 census John is living with my "Isabella" Dallas. I am wondering if Isobella & Isabella are the same person. My Isabella also had illegitimate triplets in 30 Nov. 1839, she never married, I found her in the 1881 census age 71 still unmarried. I have been told that my Isabella was to old to have given birth to John, and had probably taken John in, and that he was an illegitmate child of a cousin of Isabella's. She would have only been 40 years old, at the time of John's birth. Dear List: My name is Robert Andrew Brymer and my great, great grandparents immigrated from Scotland about 1827 to the USA. My family and I are planning a trip to Scotland next year, and we would like to meet any distant relatives we may have still living. Could you help us or point us in the right direction? As you can see from the summary below, we had family members born in Kincardine. We'd like to trace them forward to the present day. Any advice or guidance you could offer would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your consideration. Bob June 25, 1771, William Brymer (maybe spelled Bremner) married Mary Hay in Lawrencekirk, County of Kincardine, Scotland. According to the records found, they had 5 children: Francis (October 9, 1771); John (August 6, 1774); Alexander (May 6, 1781); Anne (June 20, 1783); Anne (June 14, 1784) --The second child, John, is was baptized on Aug. 6,1774, and born at "Burnside of Johnstown", Lawrencekirk Parish. 1814 or 1815 (estimated), John Brymer married Maria Jenkins in Oldmaines Fasque in Fettercairn Parish, Scotland. We believed they immigrated to to the U.S. on June 30, 1827. John was a carpenter and died on Nov. 26, 1838, in New York City. Maria was born in Scotland in 1788, and died in NYC on Feb. 2, 1871. They had 3 children: William (Aug. 22, 1816); John (1821); and Fanny Brymer (no additional information on her) --Their first child, William was born on Aug. 22, 1816 and baptized on Sept. 5, 1816, in Fettercairn Parish, Scotland. William was naturalized in the U. S. on Oct. 27, 1840, in Essex County, New Jersey.April 28, 1845, William Brymer married Agnes White. They had three children, and he is our Grandfather that we have the Civil War Diary from. They had 3 children: Eliza (1847); Lewis Park Valentine (1849); and Andrew (April 3, 1851). November 23, 1876, Andrew Brymer married Harriet Pope in NYC. Their 7 children were: Howard (Doug's Grandpa); Bobby (who I was named after); John (who lived in St. Pete); Andrew (your Grandpa); George; Bubbles; and Katherine (who died two months ago)

The placename which is puzzling you would be Kincardine O' Neil, Aberdeenshire. There was a George Gordon baptised 26 May 1840 in Kincardine O' Neil [ located on River Dee approx. 30 miles west of Aberdeen]. He was the son of John Gordon and Agnes Tawse who also had a daughter Isabella Jane Gordon baptised 19 November 1842 in Aboyne[ next parish to west of Kincardine O' Neil] and a son John Gordon baptised on 13 May 1845 in Strathdon parish. [Source IGI] Hope this helps. Eileen.
Hi fellow listers, this being my first posting to list. I am curious; To the best of my knowledge, in Muirside of Thornton, Laurencekirk, Kincardineshire; stands "Thornton Castle"; now occupied by the KEMSLEY family? Would any fellow lister know of and can tell me anything about it? Kindest Regards; Robert KEMSLEY Australia
Hello Peggy, just want to say a big welcome and also endorse your thanks to Sue for the mighty job she has done. By the way what do you do in your spare time ??? carry bricks. Cheers Ruth Edwards
This is my last 'official' post to the list. As you would have seen, I have been looking for someone to take over the admin role for SCT-KINCARDINE. I'm pleased to say Peggy Tebbetts has offered to do so and is now our new list admin - thanks Peggy. I've enjoyed my time overseeing this list, but due to other tasks (SCT BDM Exchange), my free time has become less and less. And then of course there is my family to care for <g>. I will still be lurking, though my own research has been on the back-burner for some time now, and I will keep you up-to-date with the stats on the BDM site. Thanks for being a great list. Cheers Sue Lund
Hi everyone, Due to a change in circumstances, I am stepping down as admin of SCT-KINCARDINE. Is there anyone who would like to take over this list? The duties involved are rather straight forward and no previous experience is required. If you are interested, please contact me off-list for more details. Cheers Sue
I am trying to trace the marriage of my 3 x g-grandparents, James ADAM and Margaret GRAHAM. Their first child was born in 1791, so it was probably in 1790. They had 16 children - the first six born at Laurencekirk and the remaining ten at Fordoun.Has anyone links to this family please - or any details of earlier generations? Doreen
Hi, Folks, Just a short note to say "hello" and to thank Sue Lund for the great job she did as listowner and for the absolutely wonderful job she is doing with the Scotland BDM. I am the webmaster for the Kincardineshire page for the ScotlandGenWeb project, and have the message board for Kincardineshire. I also maintain the webpage for Stirlingshire and it's associated list and board. If any of you have any questions, please feel free to email me. I don't do research for others, but I may be able to point you in the proper direction. Kind Regards, Peggy

Elaine A snippet of information for you. George Blacklaws, Mains of Monboddo, and Robert Blacklaws, Carnbeg were cautioners for John Moir ( my great X 5 grandfather) and Elspet Craw at their proclamation of marriage on 14.4.1755, Fordoun. This is not a great deal of help to you but you could reasonably assume that George and Robert were brothers, cousins, father/son or son/father, which might help you as your research develops. There were quite a lot of Blacklaws around Fordoun at this time. Alan Moir
