Hello All, I am a little bit bewildered to say the least as to why you have not contacted me about this entry of Mull Genealogy Michael as it is so very obviously MY mistake and certainly not Ians. My contact address is up to date and I am recorded as the source of the information. I, like Jean had written down a lot of this from the original documents on Mull as far back as 1981 and some of the pages were very hard to read - not quite like today's hit a button and then complain if it isn't perfect! As I wrote down hundreds of entries over the week that I spent at both the Tobermory Museum and the old Ross of Mull FH site, I don't doubt that there are a lot more mistakes out there. I am not quite sure which one of these families you are related to, but if anyone had contacted me I would have looked to see why I had made the mistake and then asked Ian to change it. I would appreciate it in future that you do that instead of constantly putting up changes for Ian when those changes have to come from the source of the information, and it would be better if you contacted those people off line as then the site doesn't have to get involved with something that isn't productive. The greater majority of information that Ian has on his site from me has never been on the Rootsweb site. I gave it to him so as others researching their OWN family trees could have that information or could contact me in regard to other contacts I may have. I certainly didn't expect it to be used in any other way. Oh, and by the way, if I thought Ian was sitting at his computer 12 hours a day 7 days a week I would be horrified as would we all. Ian has a life and although a lot of his time has been dedicated to the Mull Genealogy site over many years, His move to Mull was long anticipated and one hopes he is out there enjoying every minute of it - weather permitting. Jan I'm more than a little bit more than bewildered why you're having a moan at me !! Mullgenealogy is Ian's website and he's the person that should be contacted should a question arise. I've spoken to Ian off list, and he's happy to be notified of any errors/duplication. As far as I'm aware, I'm not related to any of these families, but what's the harm in pointing out inacurracies ? I make mistakes, we all do : but I'm happy to have any pointed out so they can be corrected. As I tend to MullFamilies many hours/day, I don't have time to check who's submitted the info, nor to contact them. For privacy issues, I don't post email addresses on site. Contacting you directly would be an invasion of your privacy. Also, once information is on a website, it's there to be seen by anyone who visits that site (whether their family or not). : it's in the public domain. You're horrified that I spend 12 hours/day researching and updating my website ??!! Surely you should be applauding me for the dedication, being a pro-active webmaster, breaking down brick walls and generally keeping 200 website members quite happy, thank you. Anyone else want to have a go ? Hi Michael, >> Mullgenealogy is Ian's website and he's the person that should be contacted should a question arise. The main purpose of placing the source on the website is so that individuals can contact directly the supplier of the information in order to verify or exchange information if they are related. In either case I would like to think that they would then notify me via the list of any additions or corrections. I have plenty to do without acting as a go between in such cases. I do not consider myself to be the person to contact when a questions arises. I would much rather the two individuals worked together off-line in order to arrive at the correct information. It would also reduce the amount of traffic on the list which would in the large part be of no interest to most list subscribers. Once a consensus has been agreed is the time for a posting when others will have the opportunity to comment. Please keep up the good work breaking down the walls but equally remember that sitting for such long period at a computer screen is not good for your eyes. It would not be allowed and even then you would be expected to take at least five minutes in every hour away from the screen. All I'm saying is please be careful.
