Hi June, From what I have been reading it appears that Kintra was created in 1790 by the Duke of Argyll as a "model fishing village". Apparently there were 13 cottages built and they were named after the boats associated with them. Do you, or anyone else who may be reading this, know the names of the families that first went there? I know they were to be trained as fishermen. My McInnes family were there in the 1841 census but I was wondering whether they might have been one of the original families. Do you know the names of the cottages? I am trying to get a grasp on what it would have been like living there in the 1830/40's. My family came to Australia in 1848. kindest regards Joy Australia.
