The OPR birth you have: >>1837, Born 16 Jan. bapt. 9 Feb. to Donald Lamont and Mary Carmichael, Duart a lawful son Duncan Lamont.>> It was good to see this additional birth info as there are 2 marriage OPRs for this couple, both in February 1836, which confused me. I thought at first they were two couples with the same name but now I realise one entry just says Donald Lamont, Duart, and the other says Donald Lamont from the Parish of Torosay. Both have Mary Carmichael, Bunessan (correct). So I think for some reason their entry was duplicated. However to satisfy myself completely I need to get Mary Carmichael & Donald Lamont's death certificates which I hope shows parents' names. I've also got Lamont in my ancestry so am equally curious to find out which Lamont branch Donald was from. I hope Elaine or the Canadian listers can tell me how to go about this. Your census info has this couple both still alive in 1861 which will help to narrow down the timeframe. Thanks again for the generous help given by you and Elaine. Best wishes Moira
