    3. Listers should be aware that there are two Neil McDOUGALLs married to Catherine McDONALDs. As well as the one who went to Ontario, there is another Neil McDOUGALL/McLUCAS who died in Cragaig in 1863 where his CRD shows his parents as Kenneth McDOUGALL, crofter, and Catherine McPhail, both deceased. Informant was his brother John and there was also a sister, Chirsty. In the 1861 census for Cragaig, Neil is aged 29, a widower (late wife Catherine McDONALD), with daughter Mary Ann 6 and son John 4. His brother John is next door aged 37, farmer of 10 acres, with wife Mary 22. Kenneth McLUCAS appears in the 1841 and 1851 censuses, born Ardnamurchan b.c. 1795, with wife Ketty (Catherine) born Kilninian & Kilmore, b.c. 1801. Daughter Chirsty was born c 1822. Just goes to show that life wasn't meant to be easy for genealogists. Jill

    3. Hi Jill Thanks for adding this Neil's death and his spouse's name as well. It's always nice when someone can add a piece to the puzzle. Eventually if we all share these tidbits. We'll all have the satisfaction of solving one gigantic mystery. Besides that we wouldn't want Ian P to get bored ;-) would we. thanks again Ida Jill Dakin wrote: >Listers should be aware that there are two Neil McDOUGALLs married to >Catherine McDONALDs. 3. Yes, thanks Jill. I'm really glad to find this is not my Catherine as I didn't want her to die so young. I found her death on Scotlandspeople and her mother's maiden name was Mclean not Currie, which is my Catherine's mother. How can I find out whether the parents of the Ontario Catherine McDonald who married Neil McLugas (McDougall) were Archibald McDonald and Margaret Currie? 3. Hi Helen, I would really like to know what extra information the death registration for poor Catherine contained. Niel McLucas/McDougall's parents were Kenneth and Ketty and Kenneth was born (according to the 1851 census where they are at Tobermory) in Ardnamurchan but that's all I know. Jill

    3. Hi Ida, I have sent a message to Pamela Forsyth in Canada who is a descendant of Betsy and Neil Campbell. She recently visited Mull and the places that they lived in. I have sent her a message to say she should contact the list as there is a lot of information about her family appearing right now, regards, Helen Danes NZ >From: Merle & Ida King <m_iking@telusplanet.net> >Reply-To: sct-isleofmull@rootsweb.com >To: sct-isleofmull@rootsweb.com >Subject: Re: [SCT-ISLEOFMULL] McDOUGALL/McLUCAS >Date: Sun, 04 Feb 2007 11:28:20 -0700 > >Hi Jill > >Thanks for adding this Neil's death and his spouse's name as well.
