Good Day I live near the Rocky Community just north of Durham Ontario. My McCormicks settled here in 1842 and in 1846. My gr gr grandmother Mary McDougald McCormick lived on Lot 13 Section 2 EGR from the time she arrived here from Mull with the rest of our family. That was from 1846 onward. Now getting to the point of this e mail. My gr gr grandmother Mary McDougald McCormick in the 1861 Census was listed on the same lot as I mentioned above, but in this particular census she is listed beside a 15 year old Anne McDougald. The interesting part of this is that one acre of our McCormick land was sold about 1860 to Danial Donahue so he could build a hotel at the corner of our Lot 13 McCormick land. I believe in the 1861 census that Anne McDougald and Mary McDougald were living there at the hotel. I figure Mary was being looked after there or working there, as her son Donald and his family were still living in the homestead just a few yards away. Anne McDougald was probably helping or working in the hotel and living there too. Anne McDougald in 1863 was listed as being married and was 17 years old. I THINK THIS IS THE SAME ANNE MCDOUGALD as the one that I just mentioned. There are other pioneer McDougalds buried in the Rocky Pioneer Cemetary, and I suspect that they are related to my gr gr grandmother Mary McDougald McCormick. Does anyone know of more McDougalds that lived in pioneer times at the Rocky Community that would also be related to my gr gr grandmother Mary McDougald?
