    1. [SCT-ISLEOFMULL] Bells -Duncan and Malcom and all
    2. Hi Everyone IN PEI are buried some Bells in the Argyle Shore Cem. My problem has been connecting them to my Bells whom disappear - I know for a fact that C. Bell married my Archibald Shaw and emigrate to PEI from Colonsay abt 1819 but I think her siblings came earlier than left to ON - cant make the connections. - She a Bell for Inverarary - ends up having kids bapt is colonsay - what happened to her siblings - below are just my guesses with exception of Catherine Bell - AND IS MY AGNES sayd female on Inverary Bapt records really a female or is this an error and is an ANGUS - maybe I am looking for different names for some Flora? Marg? I cant figure it out!! Heres what I have: Archibald Bell (mcIIvoile?) married Mary Bell (mcIIvoile?) (born circa 1730-55) married on Jan 21, 1769 In Inveraray and Glenaray, and had issue: Isabel Bell born February 22, 1769, baptized February 24, 1769 Duncan Bell born November 10, 1770, baptized November 11, 1770 Dougald Bell born April 19, 1776, baptized April 21, 1776. Notes for Dougald: He may have married a Catherine unknown - possibly McPhee? Bell or McLeoad And had a son Neil Bell born 1814 died 1897 lot 65...this info is not confirmed and is merely a guess at this point. Donald Bell born July 20, 1778, baptized Notes for Donald: May have married a Catherine McMillan lived on lot 62 but this is not confirmed and merely a guess at this point and, I have some doubts because of the lot number, however I have found many family spread across PEI in the earlier years.. Catherine Bell baptized January 13, 1780, married Archibald Shaw bapt Sept 15, 1774, In South Knapdale. His parents are John Shaw and Mary McNeill. Believed to have come to PEI in 1819 with their family - all this couples children were born in Colonsay beginning in 1806. Notes: (for more on this tree see Shaw family file on the Island Register) Agnes Bell born March 21, 1781, baptized March 22, 1781 FHC Film source#1041009 Inverary & Glenary Marriage Banns and Baptisms. Notes: I am told that the Bells of Inveraray and Glenaray belonged to the Clan MacMillan (Mac illmhaol) the most common derivation was McIIvoile. Apparently between 1750-60 all the McIIvoiles became Bells. This may explain why there are no Bells much earlier than 1740. I may not find these parents born as Bells and guesstimate births to be around 1735. I have some Bell grave photos just cant figure them out - these are not the Bells who stem from John Bell who lands in Tyron PEI abt 1816-17 and moves to up west to Cape Traverse Area - called Bell Point the very next year.... 3. Hi Sherri You address bounced so I'll just send it through the list. Sorry I don't think I'll be able to help you. Other than to make a suggestion. As your in PEI I might suggest you try obtaining Donald Whytes A Dictionary of Scottish Emigrants to Canada before Confederation. You should be able to get them through inter-library Loan. Vol # 1 ISBN #0-920036-09-0 Vol # 2 ISBN # 0-7779-0919-9 Vol # 3 ISBN # 0-7779-2119-7 There are numerous persons mentioned from Colonsay that settled in PEI.. David Dobson also has numerous books available search http://www.genealogical.com/search.cfm?View=All&string=Author&input=Dobson emigration 1700-1900 hopefully the link is good still. Years ago I borrowed his books through inter library loan as well. good luck Ida ssmith_13@pei.sympatico.ca wrote: >Hi Everyone > >IN PEI are buried some Bells in the Argyle Shore Cem.
