Here I am again - searching for the McMillans and McIntyres in Mull. I am well aware of the connection between the Bells and the McMillans. My McMillan family came from Oskamull to Portland, Victoria Australia in 1853 on the ship called the New Zealander. The parents were Archibald McMillan (Abt 1790-1871) and Flora McIntyre (1781?-1870). Their birth dates have been confused, as their death certificates have certian ages that do not seem to correlate with them being 60 in 1853 (HIES records) and having children of certain ages when they left for Australia. There were two daughters who stayed behind - Mary and Sarah (Marion). I have not been able to trace Mary - but Sarah (1822 - before 1906) married Neil Maclean (1822-before 1906) and they lived in Ballygown. I have been reading with interest the discussions on the Bells and the link to the McIntyre family. My father was Neil McIntyre McMILLAN. I note that the naming of family in my father's generation tended to include family names as second names eg Hector McDonald McMillan, Colin Campbell McMillan and my father - with McIntyre as his middle name. Flora McIntyre was Neil McIntyre McMillan's great grandmother. We think that her parents were Angus McIntyre and Christina McCormack (various spellings) from Mull. This is what is written on her death certificate in Victoria, Australia. Does anyone tracing their McMillan, Bell and McIntyre families think that there is a link to Archibald or to Flora in their families? I have not been able to trace siblings for either of them - or find their parents' marriages etc. Regards Libby McMillan
