In Nicholas Maclean-Bristol's excellent new book 'From Clan to Regiment' he refers to one of the Coll Maclean families as from 'Auchnasaul'. If I read him correctly Auchnasaul was in fact in Mull, and presumably a place from which the family moved to Coll. However I don't think there is an Auchnasaul on a current map of Mull. There are a couple of Auchnasauls on the mainland. May be the place no longer exists, or perhaps has changed its name. Does anyone know where Auchnasaul was? Donald McIlhagga.
