Dear Friends, Some of you I know are related to my g-g-g grandfather DONALD MCLEAN, who was born in Creich in 1786, and who married JANET MCCALLUM in 1809, and subsequently moved to Quebec. While vivisting Mull last month we stopped by the Ross of Mull Historical Centre and made a little discovery. In the Duke of Argyll's Census of 1779, there are listed four Mcleans in Creich: SANDY MCLEAN (age 68) his son JOHN MCLEAN (age 25) his son HUGH (age 20) While discussing this information with Fiona Shannon in the Centre, she suggested that it is most likely that either Hugh or John was my Donald's father, and Sandy was his grandfather, as there would not have been an influx of many more Mcleans by the time Donald was born.
