    1. [SCT-ISLEOFMULL] MullGenealogy Website Update
    2. Ian Phillips
    3. Hi All, I have today 1st April updated the mullgenealogy website. Just to reassure you this is not an April fools joke. As some of you will know my winter project has been to transcribe the Old Parish Records for Mull and immediate islands. The trascription is complete but I regret to say that the update of the website is not. So far I have added over 10,000 new records to the database and countless BDM dates and places to existing records. Unfortunately this has resulted in the addition of a number of duplications. I intend to complete the update of the database with the remaining OPR records and then work through the database in order to identify positive duplicates and remove what is safe to remove. As you will appreciate this is not going to be a 10 minute job and will no doubt be next winters job. This task will be easier once I have all the details in the database and I can write a program in order to indentify the records and help with the removal of records so please bear with me in the meantime. Next Saturday I leave for the first of three visits to Mull this year. On this visit I'm taking my sister-in-law and her son for their first visit to the island. She has heard so much about the island from Jenny, my boys and myself she said that she wanted to see island for herself. I'm sure she will not be disappointed. In June I shall be attending the Clan Maclean Gathering with the MullGenealogy database. I hope to be able to assist some of those attending with their family research. I trust that any Mull List subscribers attending will introduce themselves as it's nice to put faces to names. My last visit will be my usual two week break in September. Looks like I will be joined by my eldest son and his wife for one of the two weeks. It's possible that my sons in-laws will also be coming. Whilst writing I would draw Maclean researchers attention to a new book written by Isabelle McCall MacLean called The Scottish Covenanter Genealogical Index - 1630-1712. The Scottish Covenanter Genealogical Index has alphabetized thousands of Covenanters' names, referencing books where their stories are found. Full details of the book, and Isabelle's historical novel 'The Oath and The Covenant - The "Killing Times" in Scotland' can be found at www.isabellemmaclean.com Must away. All the best, Ian webmaster mullgenealogy.co.uk
