    3. MAC QUARRY - is the best I can do .At least that is how I pronounce my name. Some in the family still use the Mac spelling. That is a long story with many possible explanations as you know. But there are some here in the states that arrived in the 1700's that pronounce and spell it Mac Queary (and there are further variations). Frankly when some one does not know how to pronounce my surname their attempt sounds like the latter. They seem to have begun their life in the States in Kentucky and Tennessee- the south. Southerners have a distinct accent. Maybe some one can add to what I have said.
