Re; first names Seumas- and also perhaps Tearlach - one can only wonder if both James and Charles are names associated with the efforts of Charles Edward Stuart and his father James and relatives to gain the throne - how much support was there for the Stuarts among the people and landowners of Isle of Mull? The Jacobite cuase carries the name James(albeit in Latin) Both names would be much more common in the Outer Hebrides where more people were attracted to the doomed cause- one of my MacDonald ancestors born in North Uist in the late 1700s was baptized James Edward - his family were supportive of the cause - my Isle of Mull relatives were not attracted - but they were ardently Presbyterian- just a thought Jim St.Clair
