Hello James, I have found your email very interesting. I have for some time been mystified as to why Una and Lachlan McGilvray named their first son James when he was born on 26 December 1823. Una was the daughter of Donald McGilvray and Catherine Beaton from Beach. I have been unable to find out anything about this Catherine Beaton, she has an estimated birth period of around 1775. Other children of the marriage appear to have been named after known family members including Catherine. Do you or anyone else know of any later James Beatons in the Brolas - K&K area that could be connected to this Catherine Beaton.
