    3. the topic is of great interest to me - my great great great grandmother Mary (Gregor) MacPharlain who lived in Achnacroish, Parish of Kilninian and Kilmore, Torosay District, was a widow for many years. Her husband Peter(Parag) MacPharlain according to traditions in our family died by drowning the night of the birth of their son Parlan in 1782. His body was recovered and the story as passed down says she walked with the baby in her arms to the cemetery behind the coffin. Her journey of several miles was remembered for generations after her two sons Peter and Parlan MacPharlain(MacFarlane in later years) left for Cape Breton in 1820 with a large group of Mull emigrants and established homes here in Mull River. It was believed in the family that it was very unusual for a woman to go to the graveyard (and that understanding was confirmed in recent conversations with people from the Hebrides). But she was determined to go and so did. But where was she buried ? Where was the cemetery near Achnacroish? We have also believed she died before her sons left Scotland - but I have recently started to wonder if perhaps she did come with them and died here. 3. Dear Jim I recorded a few MIs from the Duart road burial ground some years ago but there was nothing that connects to your sad story. Regrettably, many of our ancestors are in unmarked graves or graves with a simple stone but no inscription.
