    3. Our family has a long connection to Boreray and North Uist. Our paternal line goes back to Donald MacIntosh who married Isabella MacDonald circa 1785. Their daughter, Catherine, married Roderick MacLean, who was also from Boreray. A son, Angus, married Mary MacLean circa 1820. Our direct line is through Angus and Mary. Angus and Mary's daughter, Kirsty, married Donald MacQueen circa 1866, hence the MacQueen connection. I was wondering if anyone had any connection or information re these people? Can you tell me is the book THE MACLEANS OF BORERAY a very large book? Does it have a user-friendly index? Cheers Robyn MacIntosh

    3. Robyn The Macleans of Boreray does have an index of sorts, though not particularly helpful from memory. It has been out of print for many years. However, if you have not already tried it, the database here : http://www.maclean.org/genealogy/index.php, I believe holds much of the data and possible family links for you. You need to register, but it is free. If you do not have any luck, let me know and I will check if I have the full copy in my records (senior moment - know I have a least part) j Peter & Robyn MacIntosh wrote: > Our family has a long connection to Boreray and North Uist. 3. Hi Robyn - welcome to the list. I don't have a great deal on this family, so would really appreciate anything that you can share. What I do have is this (taken from the MacLeans of Boreray, by Mackenzie): Mary MacLean, who married Angus MacIntosh, Boreray, with issue (names of issue are not given), was a daughter of Ranald MacLean (name of spouse not given). Ranald MacLean, was a son of Donald "Ruadh" MacLean of Kilphedair (Kilpheder) and Elizabeth Dingwall (daughter of William Dingwall, Tacksman of Lee, North Uist and Janet MacKenzie - a d/o Donald MacKenzie, Tacksman of Skinidin, Duirinish). For siblings of Ranald, I have: John; Colin; Allan; Margaret and Norman. Donald "Ruadh" MacLean, was a son of John MacLean (spouse not given), who was a son of Neil MacLean, the progenitor of the Macleans of Kilphedair (Kilpheder). This Neil MacLean was a son of John MacLean, 8th of Boreray. I do have a copy of The MacLeans of Boreray, so if there is anything I can look up for you, please let me know. Would appreciate any additional information you may have on this line.
