    1. [SCT-ISLEOFMULL] introduction--Beaton, MacDonald
    2. Hello, Folks, I joined the list about two weeks ago, but I have just been sitting quietly. It is about time I introduce myself. I am Jean and I live in Idaho. I am helping a dear friend, Jan, with her research. She says that her best friend was her mother-in-law, who came from the Isle of Mull. The woman was Annie Beaton, who was born 29 March, 1887. Her father was John Beaton. Her mother died when Annie was very young. She went to live at her grandfather's house and grew up there. He was John MacDonald, born 1823. When she was an adult, Annie came to work in Canada as a housekeeper. In 1914, she married an American, Estelle Donley. They lived in America and raised several children. Annie died in Idaho in 1982. Jan and I would enjoy hearing from anyone who is related to these people or who is tracing Beaton or MacDonald people. Jean searcher3@mindspring.com Why Wait? Move to EarthLink.

    3. Hi: Just wondering if your BEATON name had any connections to BEATONS in Kilmallie, Argyll. My knowledge of Scottish geography is pretty limited, and I can't put my hands on a map I have of Scotland. Anyway, probably a very long shot, but just thought I would make contact. - Joy in Canada >From: "" <searcher3@mindspring.com> >Reply-To: searcher3@mindspring.com, sct-isleofmull@rootsweb.com >To: sct-isleofmull@rootsweb.com >Subject: [SCT-ISLEOFMULL] introduction--Beaton, MacDonald >Date: Tue, 12 Jun 2007 18:56:08 -0600 > >Hello, Folks, > > I joined the list about two weeks ago, but I have just been sitting >quietly. 3. Hi Jean and Jan in Idaho :-[ Welcome to the list. As Ian has supplied the 1891 and 1901 census where your Ann/Annie Beaton in the h/h of John McDonald. Although your Ann appears more modern than the records I have access to. You'd be wise to obtain the birth record of Ann Beaton as you have the date of her birth as 9 March, 1887 Might I suggest that following this McDonald family backwards may help you find the missing pieces. But I must warn you that there is a couple of families with the same names ...I'm hoping a couple of our McDonald researchers will step forward and will fill in more blanks for you...So what I'm surmizing is that this is John McDonald marries Ann McArthur Jan 27 1846.... On the Mull website if you look under John McDonald Oct 25 1822 you'll find the children listed. In the IGI fische I find the following records with the parents of John McDonald & Ann McArthur I'll list them accordingly John McDonald m's Ann McArthur Jan 27 1846 Iona 7426815, 1846 these are the LDS batch & film #'s ch: All listed under Iona I think this one in Kentra Iona Hugh Mar 28 1847 750524, 52, C115424, 2204 Sarah/Marion according to website NFI James Feb 10 1852 another regst Nov 29 1854 C115382, 0648, & 7426815, 5 Mary Jun 22 1854 -Nov 29 1854 C115382, 0649 Margaret Dec 7 1856 C115381, 0058 Duncan Aug 9 1859 C115381,0119 Neil Sep 2 1861 C115381, 0166 Ann Jun 20 1864 C115381, 0234 John McDonald spouse listed as Ann McArthur ch: I haven't figured out who these belong to Annabel Jun 17 1850 7426815, 3 Annabel Jul 29 1866 C115381, 0278 John McDonald m's Ann McArthur Feb 19 1835 Iona 7426815, 16 this one I think is found Catchean/Caitchean Iona ch: Archibald Jun 13-Jul 8 1835 7426814, 82, & C115382, 0236 Dugald Apr 20 1837-Jan 29 1839 Mary May 27 1839-Dec 7 1841 Flora Jun 17 Dec 7 1841 Annabel Jan 15 1844 7426814, 98 John Apr 6 1846 7426815, 18, & Aug 14 1846 7426814, 99 Female Nov 1847 C115682, 0560 John Feb 20-Mar 8 1849 7426815, 1 & C115382, 0575 Annabel May 18 1851 C115382, 0620 this could be the Annabel who was born Jun 17 1850 above...
