Hi Jean and Jan, The John McDonald mentioned was my great grandfather. His daughter Ann b. 20/06/1854 married a John Beaton at Creich schoolhouse on 10/06/1886. John was a shepherd from Ardachy and according to their marrage certificate, his parents were John Beaton and Flora McQuarry. Ann died at Pottie on 22/11/1898 aged 33 and I believe John then remarried. (This may explain why your Annie wanted to live with her grandfather.) Kintra is a very small village and a child could quite easily walk from one house to another. If the dates are correct, Annie would have been about 11 when her mother died at Pottie. This is quite some distance from Kintra. Hope this helps. June. >From: Merle & Ida King <m_iking@telusplanet.net> >Reply-To: sct-isleofmull@rootsweb.com >To: searcher3@mindspring.com, sct-isleofmull@rootsweb.com >Subject: Re: [SCT-ISLEOFMULL] introduction--Beaton, MacDonald >Date: Fri, 15 Jun 2007 15:19:15 -0600 > > Hi Jean and Jan in Idaho :-[ > >Welcome to the list.
