MCARTHUR-BEATON A quiet but impressive marriage took place at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John G. Beaton, Wednesday, March 31st, when their eldest daughter Jennie M. was united in the holy bonds of matrimony to Mr. Angus A. McArthur, a prosperous young farmer of Glenelg. As the clock was striking six, the bride, leaning on the arm of her father entered the parlor to the strains of the wedding march played by Miss Maggie J. Wilson, of Boothville. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. W.L. Newton of Durham, in the presence of only immediate relatives of the contracting party. The happy couple were unattended. The bride looked charming, gowned in white silk trimmed with Valenciennes lace and wore a bridal veil and orange blossoms. After the usual congratulations a sumptuous supper awaited. Justice being done to all the good things provided, the evening was spent in games and music. The grooms gift to the bride was a handsome gold watch and bob. The presents were useful and costly showing the high esteem in which they were held. Mr. and Mrs. McArthur have gone to reside in their home in the Glen. Carrying with them best wishes of a host of friends for a long and happy wedded life. This doesn't really give much information, but is nice to have. The paper was the Durham Review, April 1909.
