Christine We have a postcard from David McMillan (born in Australia 1889) to his father (John McMillan born in Parish of Ulva 27 Nov 1830) during the WWI when he was on leave from the war and came to Mull. He says that he was staying with their McMillan relatives in Salen. Is this helpful, if I can get a cousin to send me the exact text. Would Hilary be interested in this? John was son of Archibald and Flora McMillan (nee Mcintyre). They - together with their children - Ann, Alexander, John and Chirsty - went to Portland Victoria in the New Zealander in 1853. They came from Oskamull. There is one census record on the Mull genealogical site that has the place of birth as Kinlochspelvie - but I think that it was Kilmore and Kilninian.
