Interesting Effie comes from another MacPhail/MacPherson marriage. I have two other MacPhail/MacPherson marriages: Donald MacPherson 1781 m. Catherine MacPhail 1779 & John Malcolm MacPhail m Mary Ann MacPherson - both 1800s. I haven't found a connection with these families myself but a descendant lives in Salen. Best wishes Moira
