Good evening Kate (from Samoa) I read with interest your messages on the McINTYRE family. I am constantly looking for McINTYREs in and from Mull. Flora McINTYRE married Archibald McMILLAN and they lived in Oskamull. Their children were Ann, Angus, John, Alexander, Mary, Sarah (Marion) and Christy. John was my great grandfather and my father's name was Neil McIntyre McMillan. Archibald and Flora McMILLAN (nee McINTYRE) left Oskamull in 1853 and travelled to Portland Victoria Australia with Ann, John, Christy and Alexander. Their son, Angus McMILLAN was already in Victoria having travelled there in about 1841 (aged 18 years). The Victorian BDM (Registration number - 1870 & 6333) cites Flora's surname as being McMILLEN and being spouse of Archibald McMILLEN. It also has her mother as being Christina McCormack - the same name as the mother that is cited for her husband's mother on his death certificate. It states that her father was Angus McIntyre. It states that she was 89 at death which means that her birthdate would have been 1781. The McMILLEN spelling was one reason why her death record was so elusive. I do not have Archibald and Flora McMILLAN's marriage certificate, nor have I been able to confirm their actual birth days or their parents through any birth records. I have therefore not been able to find any McINTYRE connections for Flora in Mull - and any mention of McINTYRE in this list makes me hopeful. Do you think that there is any connection between your McIntyre family and this one? Regards Libby McMillan (ongoing email address libbymcm@tpg.com.au)
