John McLean was older than the entry in the 1877 Register of Deaths suggests. The Coll OPR gives his baptismal date as November 9, 1794. His wife Flora McKinnon was more than 98 years old when she died at the Industrial School, Tobermory in November 1895. Lachlan McLean, a son of John McLean and Flora McKinnon, also died at the Industrial School in 1894. Can anyone say what the connection between that Institution and the McLean family might have been?
