Hello Edwin, By any chance, does this mean that you know who Lachlan Maclean of Sudbury is and what Maclean line he descends from? I would sure like to know. I've collected quite a bit of information from Blackwood's Edinburgh Magazine and from The Gentleman's Magazine about him and his children, but I have not been able to place him. Hi Linda Sorry for delay in replying but have been snowed under lately and genealogy on the backburner. If you have not had sucess see 'The Clan Gillean' page 476 'Macleans of Cuidreach' and also 'The Macleans of Boreray' page 109. This is one of those lines that has not been proven but there is a reasonable assumption of descent from the Macleans of Boreray.
