Linda et al > 2. Vol. XIV, N. LXXVIII - July, 1823, p. 119 - Births - The lady of Dr. Maclean, Esq., of Brunswick Sq., London, of a daughter. 8. Vol. X, August - December 1821, p. 238 - Births - 13 August 1821 - In Brunswick Sq., London, Mrs. D. Maclean, of a son. If these are the same couple, then could be Donald Maclean and Jane/Jean/Joan Brown. Donald, son of John of Kilmoluag (Macleans of Boreray p34). Referred to as Donald "of Brunswick Square" and "of Stanley House, Gloucester" although I have no indication he was a Dr. but rather "merchant in London" Older children chr. at Old Church, St Pancras and younger ones at Kings Stanley, GLS, ENG. He still had a residence in Brunswick Square in 1845. > > 3. Vol. XXVI, July - December, 1829, p. 412 - Deaths - 8 July 1829 - At Edinburgh, at the house of mr. Grieve, her brother-on-law, London St., Miss C. Maclean. {Could this another daughter for John Maclean, of Inverscadell? His daughter, Mary Ann, married Mackenzie Grieve.} Note: Dr. Andrew Mackenzie Grieve > > > 9. Vol. VIII - October - March, 1820-21, p. 481* - Marriages - 15 December 1820 - At Edinburgh, George Lloyd, Esq., of Clifton, Yorkshire, to Miss Marion Christian Maclean, fourth daughter of Alexander Maclean, Esq., of Coll. Then, in Vol. IX, April - August, 1821, p. 480 - Deaths - 16 June 1821 - At Lendal, Yorkshire, Marion Christiana {sic}, wife of George Lloyd, Esq., of Hatton Lodge, and daughter of Alexander maclean, Esq., of Coll. {I believe this Marion to be the daughter of Alexander Maclean, 15th? of Coll, and Catherine Cameron, of Glendessary - although traditional Maclean genealogies list her as "died, unmarried".} The Commoners of GB & Ire Burke Vol I p245 Lloyd of Welcombe, and The Family of Coll, an unpublished manuscript by Maclean Bristol dated 1971 give her marriage to George Lloyd Also Marion Christina Lloyd Macleod (b.Mar 1822), dau of the above Marion's sister Catherine Maclean, and Donald Macleod of Talisker was named for her. > > Same Vol, p. 601 - Marriages - 7 December 1820 - At Auchnacraig, Mull, John Maclean, Esq., of Ardow, to Christian, only daughter of Alexander Campbell, Esq. Charles Maclean of Gallanach (1760-1829), purchased Ardow farm in Mull but I have no likely John connected with him > > 10. Vol. II, October 1817 - March 1818, p. 357 - Births - 31 October 1817 - At Auchill, Mrs. Maclean, younger of Coll, a daughter. {Is this one of the daughter of Hugh, 16th of Coll, and Janet Dennistoun?} Isabella Sibella died in Dec 1901 at 82yrs so is a good candidate > > 11. Vol. IX, April - August 1821, p. 478* - Marriages - 27 February 1821 - At Dacca, Bengal, Alexander Maclean, Esq., son of Alexander Maclean, Esq., of Ardgour, and nephew to the Earl of Hopetoun and the late Countess Melville, to Elizabeth Margaret, eldest daughter of Richard Owen Wynne, Esq., Chief Judge ofDacca. {Is this a first marriage for Alexander (1799-1872), 14th of Ardgour?} > The Clan Gillean p313 gives the mother of Alexander, as Margaret, dau of SECOND Earl of Hopetoun but I believe this to be incorrect. John, the second Earl died in 1781, which would make her significantly older than her husband and born in her father's aging years. He was succeeded by his son James (1741-1816) as the third. James had no sons and was succeeded by his half-brother Gen Sir John (1765-1823) as the 4th. However, I can find no daughter 'Margaret' to the 2nd, 3rd or 4th Earl - can someone confirm her heritage? Jane Hope, dau of the 2nd Earl, married firstly Henry Dundas, 1st Viscount Melville, so would be an aunt/gr-aunt/gr-gr-aunt of Alexander. She also died in 1829, so would be a 'late' aunt. All sourced to the The Complete Peerage of England, Scotland, Ireland, Great Britain and the United Kingdom > 13. Vol. V, April - September 1819, p. 253* - Marriages - 26 April 1819 - At Edinburgh, Alexander Hunter, Esq., W. S., to Marie, third daughter of Alexander Maclean, Esq. of Coll She was the fourth daughter - can someone confirm when her elder sisters Janet and Sibella died? Catherine died in 1863. jay
