    1. [SCT-ISLEOFMULL] MullGenealogy Website Update and news
    2. Ian Phillips
    3. Hi All, I have this morning (UK) updated the website including the census records. As ever, many thanks to those who have supplied update details. Keep them coming. Every piece helps to complete the picture. It's time again for my next visit to Mull - third and as far as I know final visit this year. I arrive there next Saturday for two weeks. During this visit I'm going with the Historical Society to the Scottish Crannog Centre (www.crannog.co.uk) and spend a day helping at the Mull Mod. I'm also meeting up with Jacqueline Archibald, a long standing list member and taking her to parts of the island where her folks came from. I would like to think that I might add to my family tree whilst there as I'm hopefully going to see a family tree which joins my mothers line with Mull Fletchers (yes Bob). Don't worry Bob I'll let you have fully details if I resolve this issue. Yesterday I met up with Irene Kerr (another long standing list member), her husband and Irene's pen friend Lynn. We had a walk round Hyde Park in the morning and went to the National Maritime Museum at Greenwich in the afternoon. Many thanks to them for a pleasant day. Even the weather came up trumps as we had one of the few days this year that could really be called summer (and on a bank holiday at that). On my return from Mull I'm looking forward to catching up with Jan Peasnell who by then will be hopefully settled in at Waddesdon Manor (http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/main/w-vh/w-visits/w-findaplace/w-waddesdonmanor/). Welcome back to England Jan. Hope you have brought some good weather. All the best to you all, Ian webmaster www.mullgenealogy.co.uk

    3. Hi Ian, Thanks for all the update work you do on the website. Slowly but surely we will be able to merge duplicates and eliminate false trails. I haven't been active on the site recently, but longer nights are not far away now. I am looking forward to seeing that family tree once you get to it. Our living Mull relatives are usually right when they suggest a relationship. Recently Moira MacPhail discovered yet another (lateral) relative of ours living no further away than Oban. She, Moira and I are all descended from Catherine MacPhail and Alexander Macpherson, both born c1761. That was an interesting discovery as it is about far back as we can get. And of course the Mull relatives knew all about her when we raised the subject! Margaret and I are making plans for a visit to Moira MacPhail in Christchurch shortly before Christmas this year. A big party is planned for us to meet all the New Zealand MacPhail relatives, so the spirit of MUGG is continuing. Enjoy your third visit to the island and I hope the weather is 'normal for the time of year'! Give my greetings to any stray relatives, known or unknown, as you bump into them. Your expectant distant cousin, Bob
