    3. Hi Louahna, I've checked the files I have on this family and I agree with Jay that the "The Clan Gillean" does not list any marriage or children for Hector Lachlan Stewart MacLean. I also, as Jay said, have him having 3 brothers (Donald Charles Hugh MacLean; Colin Kenneth MacLean; and Alister FitzHugh MacLean) and 3 sisters (Isabel Margaret Sophia Hastings MacLean; Maria Penelope Crighton MacLean; and Sheila Loudon Lindsay MacLean). Appears as though all these children were born in India. I only have a marriage for one of them and that is Donald Charles Hugh MacLean (born 13 July 1875, died 12 April 1909). I have that he married, on 26 October 1907, Gwendoline Katherine Lenora Hope (born 30 April 1878, died 28 March 1970). There was an interesting article (and picture) of him in "The Celtic Monthly: A Magazine for Highlanders", which can be found on www.electricscotland.com. For this couple, I only have one child, Vice-Admiral Sir Hector Charles Donald MacLean (born 7 Aug. 1908, died 19 Feb. 2003). Quite a bit can be found on him at the Malta Family History site (and his obituary can be found on-line). It would be really interesting to find out if Hector Lachlan Stewart MacLean was indeed ever married. Would you mind sharing with the list your thoughts/logical behind thinking that he may be your great-grandfather? What was your grandmother's (or should that be great-grandmother's) maiden name? I would be more than happy to check my files for any names that you would like to provide. Hoping that someone on the list can be of more help.
