    1. [SCT-ISLEOFMULL] Surname Shaw in MULL
    2. Hello everyone: My family tree, as well as one other tree of Shaw's landing in PEI Canada are online at www.islandregister.com under PEI Lineages - then hit surname Shaw or S and scroll to Shaw - My Shaws begin with Archibald Neil Shaw married Catherine Bell and had 5 children baptised in Colonsay - pretty sure came to Canada about 1819 and have another child born PEI 1823.......though I have not found bapt record for her, I found newspaper clipping gives fathers name and I believe her to be ours..........if not, maybe Archie never came to PEI, only Catherine as the 1841 PEI census only shows an older woman..........they name last daughter Barbara - and I wonder where this name came from? Perhaps it provides a clue to someone out there? Anyhow, I am seeking help to find out if Archie had any siblings that may have stayed in SCT or emigrated elsewhere. I have no idea if they originated from Colonsay or Mull and/or moved there from whereever? No idea if they as well came to PEI or Canada..... I had first thought his family came from Knapdale and his father a John mother Mary McNel as dates fit for Archie but this may not be true. I think Catherine his wife was from Inverary/Glenary and daughter of Archibald Bell and a Mary Bell but again, uncertain...no wedding info or otherwise found. If pecking order of names holds true to Scottish fashion, the sons of Archie and Catherine were named John and Donald who were twins bapt 1807 and then Neil Shaw born 1809 bapt 1810 - Neil's middle name is most likely Archibald but could be Alexander...... The pecking order would make me think his father was a Donald Shaw - Archie would have to be born abt1770-1780/5 - could be earlier.....but Donald Shaw who married who and had who...did they have an Archie....... Other Shaws landing in PEI tend to come from Mull, Coll, and some suggest Kintyre area...... I have no idea of chapels, etc so any help is appreciated. If someone out there is trying to find an Archie or has one is there tree I would love to hear from you should dates maybe fit. Names run down are tree are: Neil, Archibald, John, Donald, Alexander and Malcolm......... Its possible I am somehow connected to Malcolm Shaw who emigrated Mull 1806 to PEI and married Catherine Liviingston - but so far that line has not produced an Archie that I can find in any records online. It is also possible that Archie is a brother to Neil Shaw - from the other SHAW TREE you will see on the website the Island Register - he married a Catherine McInriver - but I have not found his parents or siblings line to figure this out. Is he a brother to Neil Shaw born Colonsay 1789 - emigrated to Pictou NS then to PEI.....if anyone is familiar with Donna MacKenzies tree on Colonsay website. I have been stuck for about 2 and a bit years now, so any advice or break or information would be appreciated. Spread the word for me, maybe someone else has that missing link - or knows of the records I seek - should there be any to find :( Thanks all :) Best Regards Sherri Smith
