    3. Frank, Are you aware that a Duncan McColl was baptised 23 Nov 1774, the son of John McColl and Mary Campbell of Ledmore? Do you know if this is your Duncan? He was the brother of my GGG grandfather Donald, born 1779. My 4th gr.grandfather Duncan McCOLL,was married to Catherine McKAY and lived on Mull. They were both born around 1775. I have no proof that they were born on Mull,my 2nd cousin Jack McCOLL suspected that Duncan may have come from Appin. He was a Corporal, probably in some Militia. Their first child Margaret was born on Mull 1802. They seemed to move between MULL and MORVERN,because my gr.gr.grandfather John was born on Morvern, but the other children were born on MULL,including the first one Margaret noted above. John married Mary Campbell from Lismore in 1831,John was listed as a ferryman on his death registration in Dumbarton 1869. Duncan was a common Christian name in my McCOLLs. My gr.grandfather Duncan McCOLL was born in Morvern but lived and married in East kilbride Lanarkshire. He had 8 sons and they all called their first sons Duncan. I have a photo taken about 1890 of Duncan and his wife Jane Lawson outside their thatched cottage in East Kilbride with six of their sons. The cottage has been declared a Listed building and can't be torn down,I visited it in 2005 with my second cousin. If any McColl researchers would like a copy I'll send it off line. Two of my aunts had reddish coloured hair. The name Grace did not appear in any of my lines, but Neil comes up a few times. Frank McGonigal Ont.Canada. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
