for your info: My 4xG grandfather was Duncan Campbell baptised on Mull Treshnish April 1777 . His parents were Isobel ? (b 1760) and Archibald Campbell who married in 1777. The daughter of Duncan's first marriage was Jessie/Janet . I don't yet know the name of his first wife, who probably died soon after Jessie's birth. His second wife was Grizel ?? whom he married in March 1798 and they had 8 more children.. Janet/Jessie Campbell (bapt Feb 1797) married Archibald Cameron (b c1790 Morvern )in ( unknown year?? )and their first daughter Catherine was born on Mull baptised 14 Dec 1823 Kilninian. By 1831 they had moved to Glasgow as their daughter Janet/Jessie was born there November 1831 . This Janet/Jessie met her husband William Jordan in Glasgow ( he was a mariner from Kent/Cornwall) and they married in G in 1854. They are listed in Glasgow in the 1861 census, but by 1871 were living in Cornwall, where my great grandfather William Jordan was born in 1864.. and he too became a mariner. I do not know where the Campbells lived on Mull; I found a listing on the mullgenaeology website, after my sister had found the marriage record for Jessie/Janet with her maiden name Campbell. I have now had an email from someone in Australia who is also a descendant of this Archibald ( her 4 x G grandparents .. ) and I feel fairly certain our families are related ! As my Janet Campbell was a half sister of the rest of her father's children with 2nd wife Grizel and had a step mother, that might account for her willingness to leave Mull with her Cameron husband ...??!! They then appear on censuses in Glasgow from 1841. best wishes Alison
