Ian I had a look at my transcription before I went on line last night and I'd written it quite clearly, but that doesn't mean that my reading of it was correct!! Would have to go back to LDS and order the film again to check from the film. Admittedly the writing sometimes was difficult to translate so I did the best I could - someone with easier access might have a look for us. Yes I wondered about the Strathcoil which Charles Maclean has as 684.308. He also spells it as Strathchale There is also Strath Ban 643.361 Jean -----Original Message----- From: Ian Phillips [mailto:ian.phillips@ukonline.co.uk] Sent: Thursday, 26 July 2007 6:09 PM To: jean whimp Subject: Cugymony choull Hi Jean, Just been checking the 1880 maps. The Strath you mention is shown as Strathcaol. Do you think that the Strath could be Strathcoil (MN 683 307) which is at the head of Loch Spelve at the junction of the A849 Craignure-Fionnphort with the road to Loch Buie? In that case Cugymony choull could be in Glen More. Have you still got access to the 1841 census records to check transcription? I have sent a copy of Family Tree Maker to Alasdair who now has it installed. Trust all is well with you . All the best, Ian
