    3. Hi Linda, Don't know if it helps but mullgenealogy has Mary's father John as 4th of Gruline. The MacLean.org has the same. 1. Re: [SCT-ISLEOFMULL] Duncan Maclean, of Uisken
    2. Thanks Ian and Lachie for your responses! I have Mary's father as John 4th of Gruline too - but I wanted to make sure that John, 4th of Gruline was a son Hector MacLean, of Torren at least that was the way I had it (and still do for now), but in reading through Jo's book MacLeans A Biographical Dictionary, it states that no known wife or children for this John, 4th of Gruline. Just wanting to double check before I sent anything to you (Ian) and ask you to load to the web site. After posting my message I found another reference - From: The United Service Journal and Naval and Military Magazine, 1840, Part III, October 1840, p. 286: Promotions and Appointments - War Office, Sept. 1. 86th Regiment of Foot. - Lieut. James M'Intyre to be Capt. without purch., vice Maclean, promoted to 3rd West India Regiment.. 3rd West India Regiment. - To be Lieut.-Col. - Brev. Major Alexander Maclean, from 86th Foot. So it would appear that both of these references are to Alexander Maclean who later died at Millport. Yes, Lachie - LTC means Lieutenant-Colonel, and I see that he did become a Colonel. Thanks for the offer of a copy of the list, but I do have a copy. Jean Whimp sent me one some years ago. The reading of this trail is absolutely fascinating! Thanks again, Linda -----Original Message----- From: Ian Phillips Sent: Friday, January 17, 2014 12:27 PM To: sct-isleofmull@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [SCT-ISLEOFMULL] Duncan Maclean, of Uisken Hi Linda, Don't know if it helps but mullgenealogy has Mary's father John as 4th of Gruline.
