    1. [SCT-ISLEOFMULL] Withdrawal of Windows XP
    2. Ian Phillips
    3. Hi all, I have just checked the MullGenealogy.co.uk website statistics and find that 24% of those accessing the website are still using Windows XP. I would remind those accessing the website that Microsoft's support for Windows XP finishes on the 8th April. After this date users accessing the internet with XP do so very much at their own risk. This link (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/en-gb/xp/end-of-xp-support.aspx) gives information about the withdrawal. Please believe me when I say that there is a substantial risk of virus and malware attacks on computers still using XP after the 8th April. Such attacks could render a computer virtually unusable. Equally beware of spam messages that say that your computer has been scrambled, pay us £x and we will fix it. The chances are they are a scam but there is no way of being certain. So all I can say is, better to be safe than sorry, DO NOT connect an XP computer to the net after the 8th of April. The only safe option is to purchase a new computer running either Windows 7, 8 or 8.1. Best regards, Ian
