Happy New Year. I am back in Samoa after Xmas. I thought that I would post these family members - and someone might make a connection. I have more information about the Australian families available too. John McDONALD and Flora LAMONT went from Skye to Portland Victoria Australia on New Zealander in 1853. Their daughter Mary McDONALD (born in Stenchell Skye in 1838) married Archibald MCLEAN (born in Morvern, Argyll in 1830) in Hamilton Victora. To the best of my knowledge that had 8 children. Their daughter Margaret 'Peggy' McDONALD (born in Stenscholl Skye in 1842) married John McMILLAN (born in Mull,in 1830) in Digby Victoria in 1864 and had 9 children. Their son Hector McDONALD (Born in Stenscholl in 1840) married Marion 'Sarah' McDONALD (born in Mull in 1842) in 1867 in Branxholme Vic. To the best of my knowledge they had three (3) children. Marion's parents were Donald McDONALD and Catherine MacQUARIE. Catherine's parents were Torquil MacQUARIE and Sarah McLEAN. This McDONALD/ MacQUARIE connection is only connected to my family through the marriage of Catherine McDONALD to Hector McDONALD. Hope that this might connect to someone's research.
