Hi Linda 2 cents worth is alway appreciated :-) I haven't heard back from Gordon yet... not sure where he and Dean descend through. Re : A John McCormick and Margaret McGilvra have a daughter Margaret c May 11 1855 in Iona C115381, 0008 she may have been the reason why Margaret died... I haven't saw her death records to see what the cause of death was. Following them through the census might help. Here's my opinion :-) This Margaret McCormick c May 11 1855 is living with Margaret's parents Donald McGilvra & Isabel McArthur in 1861 Ferry House Iona. From then on she is living with her uncle Neil (I'd ignore the birth location for Neil and his niece Margaret in 1871) I love the way this Neil never seemed to age in the census :-D 1861 Iona Ferry House McGilvray Donald 70 Head Ferryman Argyllshire Kilfinichen 4 Mar Ferry House McGilvray Isobel 60 Wife Argyllshire Kilfinichen 4 Mar McArthur m Feb 1 1820 Ferry House McGilvray Neil 30 Son Agricultural Labourer Argyllshire Iona 4 UnMar Feb 24 1826 Ferry House McGilvray Marrion 21 Dau Domestic Servant Argyllshire Iona 4 UnMar Ferry House McCormick Margaret 6 Grand Daughter Scholar Argyllshire Iona 4 UnMar May 11 1855 m's Neil McInnis 1871 this is where they are next door to Vass family Finnaphort 4 McGillivary Niel 41 Head Mason Aberdeenshire Nashills 3 UnMar Finnaphort 4 McCormick Margaret 16 Niece Mason Aberdeenshire Nashills 3 UnMar May 11 1855 d/o John & Margaret McGilvra m's Neil McInnes 1881 Iona 8 Fionaphort McGillivary Neil 38 Head Ferryman Iona Parish Of, Argyll, Scotland 9 M 1826-1901 8 Fionaphort McCormick Maggie 25 Niece House Keeper Iona Parish Of, Argyll, Scotland 9 F May 11 1855 m's Neil McInnis aft 1881 1891 Iona 8 Fionnphort Seaview Cott. Ida - I'm still slowly working my way through the information you've sent along as well as that from Connie. I did locate the marriage record for Margaret McCormick and Neil McInnes and it confirms that she is the daughter of John McCormick and Margaret McGilvra. 22 Nov 1883 at the FC Manse of Iona and Mull, after banns according to the forms of the Free Church of Scotland. Neil McInnes, quarryman, bachelor, cousin, 23, [residence] Creich, [father] Archibald McInnes, joiner, deceased [mother] Mary McInnes, m.s. McCormick Maggie McCormick, servant, spinster, 23, [residence]Fionnaphort, [father] John McCormick, quarryman, [mother] Margaret McCormick, m.s. McGilvray, deceased. ___________________________________________________________________________ Mary MacCormick (1821-1908) was the daughter of John MacCormick and Margaret Black. She married Archibald McInnes (b. @1817 - d. bet 1871-1881) 4 Feb 1841. Neil was born @ 1860. So that would make Mary and John siblings and Margaret and Neil 1st cousins if the John who is Margaret's father is also the John who married Christine Vass. -----Original Message----- Does any of the McCormick researchers have a different version of who Margaret aged 6 in 1861 Ferry House Iona with grandparent belong to?
