My ancestors, Lachlan and Ann were in Sorne in 1767, and Mingary 1769-1772. I have no idea if they are connected to the Mcleans that you have mentioned in your message, as I have very little information on them. This Lachlan was baptised 24 May 1820 at Bunessan and lived in Carsaig. His mother was Ann Macleod, daughter of Captain Neil Macleod, minister, Kilfinichen [Ross of Mull]. Lachlan went to American in 1842, fought in Confederate Army. In 1864 he was stabbed and killed in his office in Lexington Missouri. He married Eliza Smith in the USA and had one son, Nelson Robert Maclean. Jean Whimp will be able to help further as there is a diary which survives if this is the Lachlan you are after. Jean is a direct descendant of Lachlan Ban Maclean of Bunessan. Hector Hugh had an illegitimate child with a Catherine McGilvra just months before he married Ann, the Minister's daughter. Jo Currie and I found Hector Hugh McLean's grave in a sadly neglected and difficult to reach burial ground north of Campbeltown the year before last. Good hunting!
