I am not related to MacMillans but very close friends and neighbours of my family left the Ross of Mull about 1842 for Canada, Finlay and James MacMillan and some in-laws. I know a bit of their background and quite a lot about what happened to them later if that is of interest to you. While on the subject of free churches, I would like to know more about the very first Baptists on Mull of whom my gg-grandfather must have been one. D.E. Meek has some tantalizing titles in the bibliography of "Sunshine and Shadow" but they are probably not easy to find. I believe the University of Edinburgh has Dugald Sinclair's Journals but I was not able to find a trace elsewhere. As for "Evangelicalism and Emigration: Aspects of the Role of Dissenting Evangelicalism in Highland Emigration to Canada, in G; MacLennan [ed.], Proceedings of the First North American Congress of Celtic Studies (Ottawa, 1988), I expect it is rather rare. Has anyone access to either of these? Best wishes, Jean
